A Number of Things to Ask When Choosing An Auto Mechanic

It is not a simple task to locate the finest automobile service shop and auto mechanic in Broomfield co for your vehicle repairs.

The sort of services vary with scheduled repairs and also emerge with a variety of unanticipated events that necessitate a practical solution to the problem, one that demands you to put your faith in the vehicle technician with your auto repair. You want to be sure that your automobile is in good hands before handing over your valuable keys to the technician.

With the amount of money you’re investing in service costs and the level of work you expect, it’s critical that you choose your auto mechanic carefully. A few questions from you will assist you in resolving all of your anxieties and doubts.

Is my estimate going to be free?

Check to see whether the diagnostic examination of your automobile to determine what’s wrong as well as an estimate of how much it’ll cost to fix it — is free. If the auto repair company does charge, inquire about how the price is calculated: is it on an hourly basis? Is there a set fee? As well as how much you might anticipate to pay.

Is it possible to get a written estimate from you?

Before continuing with any car repair, make sure you have a thorough estimate in writing signed by the mechanic. What has to be fixed, what components are required to complete the repair, and all labor costs should be included in the estimate. Not only will this give you an indication of how much you’ll be spending, but having anything in writing will make any legal action much easier to pursue down the road if there are any issues with the final amount and the repairs done.

Have you ever worked on a vehicle similar to mine?

A few more auto repair shops specialize in particular makes and models of vehicles. Many have certified auto technicians who can work on specific makes and models. Taking your automobile to one of these shops ensures that it is fixed by someone who is not just familiar with it but also an expert on that model.

Will you go through the specifics of the repairs that are required with me?

This may sound like a foolish inquiry, but you want to be sure the auto technician can explain what has to be done and why in straightforward, easy-to-understand words. You’ll be able to ask more educated follow-up questions and have a better understanding of the entire process once you understand the reasons for the repairs.

Will I have a say in which auto components are utilized in the repair?

Numerous parts can be used to repair your vehicle. The technician may recommend that you utilize OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) components, which are manufactured by the original manufacturer. They should be almost identical to the item they’re replacing. Mechanics may recommend that you utilize a used auto part for specific sorts of car repairs. This is a terrific method to save money and recycle if they can tell you that the item is in perfect functioning condition. If you choose a used component, be certain the shop does not charge you the same amount as a new part.

When the repairs are finished, will you send me a full invoice?

You’ll want to know exactly what parts were changed so you can keep track of everything. If a part fails in the future, you’ll have confirmation of the service date as well as the guarantee. You can also use the comprehensive invoice to show prospective purchasers what work was done to the automobile if you decide to sell it.

Is there a warranty on the components and services?

Warranties differ from one location to the next. Always double-check what’s covered and for how long.

Conclusion

There are various aspects to consider while making decisions, selecting options, and coming to a conclusion. Examine how things proceed, including mannerisms, service results, and their perspectives on the demand, among other things.

New Way Auto Solutions is a one-stop shop Broomfield auto mechanic for all of your on-the-go automobile maintenance, servicing, and body repair needs. Brand New or Second Hand Cars: Which is Better?

When it comes to buying a car, the most common consideration is the budget. Prices of certain cars have gone up and with a global pandemic affecting everyone’s financial capabilities, it is now easier to choose between a brand new or second-hand car. Now decision-making can be crucial especially if you have a Subaru, it can happen to anyone sooner or later. The old clunker gasps its last smoky gasp at the side of the road and you’re left to face a costly reality which is going to a Subaru repair shop Broomfield and buying new wheels. A shiny new car on the other hand would be appealing, but your know-it-all friend says buying a used one is the smarter choice in the long run. In this article, we will weigh which one is right for you.

Advantages of Buying a New Car

The appeal, new-car smell, shiny paint, clean interior, and the reactions when your friends see it for the first time is undeniable. A new car always pertains to the status symbol that lets the world know you’ve arrived, well literally.

1. Reliability and Warranty Protection

When it comes to new cars, they are really reliable and if anything goes wrong, there’s always a manufacturer’s warranty. In addition, brand new means that you have no concerns about how the vehicle was treated before you bought it.

2. Free Roadside Assistance

Many new cars come with roadside assistance and can save you the cost of paying for coverage on your own or being stuck with a towing bill if you break down. Well, if it breaks down you can always check the Subaru repair shop near me.

3. Latest Features

Since it’s brand new, new cars are likely to meet the latest fuel efficiency standards and also have the most up-to-date safety features.

Advantages of Buying a Used Car

Pre-owned or used cars may lack the mystique of new cars, but they have some advantages too.

1. Lower Prices

Cars depreciate, so buying it might be an opportunity to get more cars for your money.

2. Warranties Available

If you buy a certified pre-owned car from a dealer, you’re likely to get a warranty that extends the manufacturer’s original warranty. Certified pre-owned cars tend to be more expensive than other used cars but they also have been rigorously inspected and spruced up as needed. Of course, bringing them to a Subaru repair shop in Broomfield, and then buying a car that needs a little time and attention can dramatically reduce your cost.

3. Cheaper to Insure

You may be able to spend less on insurance if you’re paying cash for a used car compared to full insurance coverage when you buy a new vehicle.

A new car may cost less in terms of repairs (at least for the first years), but by the time the vehicle starts to need major repairs and upkeep, you may be ready to trade it in. For repairs, you can check out the Subaru repair shop near me. A used car may cost you more for maintenance but less in interest charges on a loan if you pay cash. What to Expect in a Subaru Engine Diagnostics Check at Subaru Clinic?

Subaru cars are one of the most reliable cars on the market today. Still, staying vigilant about your car’s condition is important to keep your Subaru running smoothly. You may be looking for a Subaru repair shop near me to take your Subaru in for a diagnostics check. What can you expect with a diagnostics check? It depends on the type of Subaru you have and the reason it is being checked.

Here’s what to expect when going into a Subaru repair shop Broomfield with a Subaru engine problem!

Subaru Clinic technicians will first check in with your car’s computer to find out what the computer thinks is the problem.

The first thing you can expect in a Subaru engine diagnostics check is to be greeted by the technicians. They will first review what your car’s computer has found as the problem and then they will begin to diagnose your engine. Your car’s computer has a list of symptoms that it has found as the problem, and one of those problems is likely your engine’s fault. The computer can also tell them what kind of problem it is, like a bad spark plug.

After determining what is wrong, the technicians will verify component failure to double-check if the computer’s diagnosis is accurate.

In some cases, the diagnostics process can get a little complicated. This is especially true if the computer’s diagnosis isn’t completely accurate. In those cases, they will need to do some additional diagnostics tests on your engine to determine what is causing your car’s symptoms. These tests are designed to verify that the computer’s diagnosis was correct and find any additional problems.

Once the cause of the car issues is determined, Subaru Clinic technicians will then recommend the necessary repairs.

At Subaru Clinic, you don’t need to worry about unnecessary repairs. Expert technicians will only recommend the necessary repairs that your car needs to get back on the road as safely and quickly as possible. Whatever is suggested will be made with your safety in mind. It’s important to note that you can always choose not to go forward with the recommended repairs, but it is highly recommended you go forward with what is needed as soon as possible.

A Subaru engine diagnostic check will determine if there is a need for a replacement of any components.

Some repairs will require a replacement of a component and that will be determined during the engine diagnostic check. Technicians will go over all potential repairs with you, including replacements for your car’s components. They will discuss the cost and further effects a replacement might have on your vehicle before any tests are done to give you a complete picture of everything that is wrong with your car.

Conclusion

When your Subaru needs a diagnostic check, it’s important to choose a Subaru Repair shop Broomfield that does it right. If you are looking for a Subaru repair shop near me, choose an expert in the field like Subaru Clinic. You can expect to be one step closer to a solution and better understand your engine’s problem after the diagnostics tests are complete.

Common Subaru Repairs and Maintenance Tips for Owners

Common Subaru Repairs and Maintenance: Useful Tips for Owners

Many Subaru owners wonder what could be the most common repairs and maintenance that they will need to pay for. It’s tough to know precisely when your car will need a new component or how much it’ll cost before it breaks down – but there are some indications that you should be on the lookout for. In this article, we’ll talk about some of the most common Subaru repairs and maintenance issues, so you have a better idea of what to expect from your vehicle before you go to a Subaru repair shop in Broomfield.

Leaking Head Gaskets

One of the most common Subaru repairs is a leaking head gasket. In fact, according to Consumer Reports, a Subaru is one of the cars that is most likely to need a head gasket replacement. Repairing a leaking head gasket can be something that only takes an hour or two to fix, but it could also require some extensive work – which will depend largely on how long you’ve been dealing with the problem. A leaking head gasket means that your engine’s coolant (and sometimes oil) is leaking into the engine’s cylinders, which causes major damage over time. If you’re dealing with any sort of leakage near your engine, you should search for a Subaru repair shop near me to take your vehicle to a trusted mechanic.

Timing Belt Replacement

The Timing Belt is one of those problems that you will have to deal with at some point, and if a Timing Belt fails, the engine may be damaged.  It’s difficult to know exactly when it will need replacing, but this is something that you should keep an eye out for. Oftentimes, the dealer or mechanic who performs your yearly inspection can let you know if your timing belt looks close to needing to be changed – so look at getting a quote before any problems arise!

A/C System O-Rings

The A/C System O-Rings are one of the most common Subaru repairs. If you’re experiencing any sort of mold or mildew smell coming from your vehicle’s vents, it may be time to replace some O-rings on your air conditioning system. It’s also common for a broken O-ring to result in the leaking of refrigerant, which has the potential to cause significant damage to the engine if left unchecked.

Oil Issues

Oil consumption has been an issue with several Subaru automobiles. If you notice that your oil levels are low, make sure to get it checked out by a mechanic. If the problem is determined to be caused by an engine issue, this can result in some expensive repairs. Search online for a Subaru repair shop near me to address this issue as soon as possible.

Conclusion

There are a few common Subaru repairs and maintenance issues that most owners will have to deal with at some point during their vehicle’s lifetime. If you know what to look for, it can help reduce the stress of dealing with any unexpected mechanical problems. Make sure to find a reputable Subaru repair shop Broomfield so you can keep your Subaru well-maintained for the foreseeable future!

Temperature Where Gasoline Freezes

The average rain per year in the US is 38 inches per year. Broomfield, Colorado gets 16 inches of rain per year on average. The US has an average of 28 inches of snow per year while Broomfield, Colorado gets 59 inches of snow per year on average. Broomfield gets some kind of precipitation and precipitation is rain, snow, sleet, or hail that falls to the ground.

Snow brought by winter does terrible things to your Subaru car like straining its operation amid freezing and slowly rusting away its body. As it gets colder, drivers have to worry about everything from roads to radiators freezing. Understanding the temperature at which gasoline becomes useless can be vital for surviving extreme conditions. Learning how to handle this or going to the Subaru repair shop in Broomfield can be the difference between making it to your destination and shivering in a stalled car. If you are looking for one, you can check out the Subaru repair shop near me on the web.

One of the most important things to note is if the vehicle’s gasoline tank is never below the halfway fill level it will freeze. But is this true? Can gasoline freeze if there’s not enough of it? Or is it just a myth propagated by some auto mechanic so we return to the pump more frequently? The truth is gasoline freezes at -100 degrees Fahrenheit or below depending on what exactly its mixture of liquid components is on which octane freezes earlier than that. Diesel on the other hand has a higher freezing point and could run into freezing problems which is why winter diesel blends are sold out.

Here are the signs of a frozen fuel line:

  1. Your car stumbles or cuts out while you are driving
  2. The engine does not start at all
  3. Even if your engine starts, it doesn’t fully turn over

Just because gasoline won’t freeze in your car doesn’t mean a low gas tank won’t be harmed by the cold temperature. It may cause the following problems:

  1. The gasoline may break down and its components could separate.
  2. Condensation or water vapor in the tank or line could freeze which would hurt your car and inhibit its ability to function. Well, alcohol in gasoline absorbs water but if there isn’t enough, not all the moisture will be absorbed.
  3. A half-full tank could shorten the life of the fuel pump.
  4. You might have less fuel than your meter shows especially if it cools, it could strand you somewhere with an empty tank.

But how do you prevent cold-weather problems? Well, thanks to modern technology used by the Subaru repair shop in Broomfield, you’re unlikely to have the winter blues even if you do live in a frigid climate. Most of the scenarios mentioned are unlikely as ethanol-based gas and better fuel injection systems have improved over the past 30 years. If you are having trouble with your gas line freezing and you want to make sure there are no leaks, check out the Subaru repair shop near me online and you can find the Subaru clinic in Broomfield which is the best in town.

Subaru Car Maintenance and Repair During COVID-19

The automotive service is considered an essential business during the COVID-19 outbreak. In a health crisis like this, the main priority is protecting yourself and your family. When it comes to car care, Subaru repair and maintenance is a must, but you can also do fundamental vehicle maintenance for the safety of your home!

As quarantine and stay-at-home rules in Colorado are in place, Subaru owners are advised to conduct simple car evaluation and maintenance. Leave your home and drive to your trusted Subaru shop in Colorado only when a serious mechanical issue arises.

Performing Subaru Repair and Maintenance at Home

During this pandemic, it is the best time to learn simple maintenance jobs at home. Here are some of the tips to keep up your vehicle, particularly in these times of infrequent use:

  • Regularly check if your oil needs to be changed. Keep the battery charged.
  • Start the car at least twice a week. Set it to its full operating temperature before shutting it down.
  • Put wooden blocks underneath the tires to keep the cement from drawing the air pressure out of the tires.
  • Properly clean your car before parking it for a long time. Clean off any winter debris, brine, salt, and dirt underneath and outside of the vehicle. Inside, remove any garbage to keep the molds at bay. Keep your car smelling fresh by regularly cleaning it.
  • If the car will be sitting for an extended period, do not set the parking brake to prevent the pads from wearing out or rusting to the drum or disk.

Scheduling with Your Trusted Subaru Service Center

If a severe vehicle problem occurs and you need your car to do your essentials, such as doing groceries, get help from a professional technician. Here are some suggested guidelines on how to do that.

Call ahead. While auto repair shops have skeleton crews, they keep limited operating hours. You can save time by calling in first and setting an appointment. If your vehicle is scheduled for maintenance, ask your Subaru shop about it. Most likely, your experts will suggest a postponement of the vehicle maintenance work unless it is absolutely necessary.

Choose a Pick-up or Drop-off Service. You can expect your Subaru repair shops and dealerships to strictly comply with the health protocols and guidelines for the safety of its customers. During your appointment set-up over the phone, you can discuss the availability of the pick-up and drop-off service with your Service Advisor. If you need to visit the repair shop, be sure to wear a mask and gloves and use alcohol to sterilize commonly touched surfaces.

Sterilize your vehicle after the service. The coronavirus, and most other viruses for that matter, can be transmitted through surface contact. Although Subaru repair shops take extra hygiene precautions while cleaning your car, it is still best if you sterilize commonly touched points inside and outside of your vehicle.

7 Ways To Prepare Your Subaru Forester For Spring

With the snow melting in Colorado, it’s time to prepare your Subaru Forester for a new season! After going through the harshest winter season, make it road-ready for spring!

Preparing your car for spring is crucial because it will save you from future damages that can be expensive. Whether you take your vehicle for a Subaru Forester maintenance or if you’re doing it yourself,  here are seven tips to prepare your car for the Spring season:

Check brakes.

Your car brakes take a lot of beating during the winter, especially in Colorado, where they daze through snow-packed roads. Ice and salt can affect the functionality of your brakes. Check for odd sounds whenever you step on the brakes.

Make sure your wiper blades are in good condition.

By the end of the winter, your wiper blades will be worn out. That’s understandable after these months of being exposed to salt, spray, ice, and dirt. Prepare your car for springtime showers by checking your wipers.  When there’s a sudden downpour, you’ll be glad that you have new functioning wipers!

Check your car’s alignment.

Rough winter road conditions can mess up your Subaru’s alignment.  If ignored, they can wear your tires out sooner than expected. On your own, you can check your vehicle’s alignment by letting go of your steering wheel for a few seconds and observing if it veers to one side.  If it does, you need to get your car’s alignment evaluated by certified mechanics. Consider making that Subaru Forester mile-service check.

Check tires.

When you have installed snow tires for the winter, you’ll need to switch back to your all-season tires once spring comes around. Snow tires just aren’t built to withstand the post-winter road conditions, causing them to wear down more quickly. Switching tires also allows you to perform tire maintenance work like checking tire pressure and tire treads.

Check and replace the cabin air filter.

Cabin air filters serve as the passenger’s last line of defense from harmful substances like dirt particles, dust, and pollen found in ambient air.  Cabin air filters remove these substances and supply your Subaru’s interior with clean air. Whenever winter ends, it’s highly recommended that you change your filter. Make sure there are no decomposing leaves that restrict airflow in the cabin air intake system.

Wash your car.

There is a reason why spring cleaning is a thing. When warmer weather comes, your Subaru needs a “restart” of sorts. Wash down your vehicle to get rid of the salt and other dirt that accumulates in the winter season. When ignored, these substances can cause rusting.

Check for fluids.

To get ready for warmer weather, make sure to check your coolant levels and top them off. This is important because the coolant absorbs heat from the engine, making sure it doesn’t overheat. Check your Subaru’s manual to know your fluid level gauge, or let qualified mechanics do it for you on your next Subaru Forester mile service visit.

When in doubt, consider Subaru Forester maintenance. Allow the experts to take a look under the hood and check the overall condition of your vehicle.

Is your Subaru Forester ready to hit the road this spring? Visit Subaru Clinic for peace of mind as you enjoy the beautiful warm weather.  Call 720-420-0656 today!

4 Reasons to Never Skip or Delay a Subaru Oil Change

Vehicle manuals usually recommend an oil change every 3,000 or 5,000 miles. Most likely, though, not all Subaru owners religiously follow this rule—and are making a costly mistake.

No excuse is good enough to skip or even delay a Subaru oil change! Below are four reasons to regularly take your Subaru for an oil change in Boulder, CO:

Keep your engine clean.

The dirt that your vehicle accumulates over time causes corrosion. Combined with aging, the oil turns into sludge and decreases your Subaru’s engine life span. Regular oil and filter changes purge engine wear particles and sludge, keeping it in excellent condition.

Provide proper engine lubrication.

A car’s engine has many moving parts that are frequently in physical contact with one another.  This is why proper lubrication is a must! Fresh oil ensures that these moving engine parts are lubricated enough to prevent metal contact or friction.

Reduce vehicle emissions.

This is a no-brainer.  Clean and fresh oil allows the engine to run with much lower emissions, resulting in a significantly reduced carbon footprint. An oil change from a leading Subaru service center in Boulder is all it takes to help keep your engine in excellent shape and reduce emissions.

Extend the life of your engine.

Regular oil changes and filter replacements significantly increase your Subaru’s engine life span. It is an inexpensive way to prevent overheating, excess friction, and wear and tear—all of which can take a toll on your vehicle.

Failing to get your oil changed, or choosing to wait for some reason, will lead to more expensive auto repairs and an even more costly engine replacement should a complete engine failure occur.

Be a smart Subaru owner! Take your car to a specialized Subaru service provider in Boulder.  For minimal oil change and maintenance costs, you prevent future troubles that will cost you time and money!

Subaru Head Gasket Problem? Here’s How to Deal with It

The head gasket sits between the engine block and the cylinder head. Just like any part of the engine, it plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of your vehicle. Because of its design, the head gasket is exposed to many elements inside the engine, making it prone to wear and tear.

In most cases, it is hard to identify if the head gasket is blown or just leaking. Either way, it points to only one possibility: an engine problem. Getting Subaru head gasket repair service helps avoid further damage, making early detection crucial!

Here are some signs and symptoms that indicate head gasket issues in your Subaru:

Overheating

Engine overheating can be caused by an array of possible underlying problems. A cracked, leaked, and malfunctioning head gasket could be one of them. If the head gasket does not function properly, the coolant could leak, causing the engine to overheat.

White Smoke

The appearance of white smoke could be an indicator of increasing heat from the piston, which further indicates that the coolant is leaking through the cylinder. Steam becomes present in the exhaust in the form of white smoke.

Beige-colored oil

The head gasket compartmentalizes the oil and the coolant. You’ll know that your head gasket requires your immediate attention if a beige-colored oil shows, which is most likely produced by the oil and the coolant mixing. If not repaired immediately, the oil will thicken, and it will harm your engine.

What happens if you ignore a head gasket issue?

A Subaru head gasket repair will cost you, but you’ll be thankful you repaired. Here are the consequences of an ignored head gasket problem:

  • Catalytic converter damage
  • Engine oil leaks
  • Lubrication erosion
  • Further deterioration in the engine because of overheating

Subaru Road Trips: 6 Things You Should Check Before Embarking on an Exciting Journey

Whether it’s for a weekend escape or a month-long family vacation, Subaru road trips in and out of Colorado are exhilarating, and it is the driver’s responsibility to make sure that a car is prepared for the long journey down the road, and avoid unwanted mechanical breakdowns that will leave you feeling helpless.

Planning to go on a vacation in your Subaru across the country or a nearby state?  Here are six things you should check before hitting the road.

Fluid Levels

The essential fluids such as motor oil, transmission fluid, coolant, and brake fluid must be clean, and not dipping below the minimum line.

Oil and Filter

Having fresh filters results in better fuel economy.  Go to your trusted Subaru mechanic in Golden CO for your engine oil and oil filter checks before embarking on a trip.

Cooling System

Check the hose connections for leaks, and damage, and make sure they are secured.  A certified Subaru mechanic in Golden CO can help you conduct a meticulous inspection of this.

Tire Condition

Look out for bubbles and cupping.  You can easily spot them by checking for raised sections of the tire, making them look bumpy in some areas.  You’ll feel this bump as well when you drive at faster speeds.

Check the tire pressure as well.  Every month of use, a tire usually loses around 1 pound of air pressure.  Check the correct tire pressure indicated on the tire placard located along the driver’s door frame.  If you don’t have a pressure gauge handy, you can find one at most gas stations.  If tires are correctly inflated, they avoid blowouts and tread separation and also improve fuel economy, giving you a comfortable ride.

Windshield Wipers

A wiper blade’s life expectancy is about one year.  After a lot of use, they get chewed up, and at a much faster rate during winter.  Check if they are making full contact with the windshield, if they aren’t, replace them immediately.

Battery

Extreme heat and cold can put too much stress on the car battery, so it’s best if you have it tested, or if it’s already three years old, consider replacing it.  It’s better to be sure than to get stuck on the side of the road.

When in Doubt, Go to the Pros

Of course, if you want to skip the hassle and let the pros do the checking instead, you can always go to your trusted Subaru mechanic, who will give your car a road trip inspection service.  They know which major components to check, and they might spot problems that you could’ve missed.

Go to a trusted Subaru mechanic in Golden CO, and enjoy peace of mind as you drive across the country with the people you love. Visit us or call 720-420-0656 today!

change engine oil alert

Important Things to Remember when Changing Your Engine Oil

Thanks to modern automobile technology, Subaru owners can now be alerted when it’s the right time for an oil change. But even without having to rely on the service reminder monitor, you can still check manually and look for signs that your car needs an engine oil change.

To be sure, you need to look at your owner’s manual or ask a Subaru specialist in Denver for a more reliable assessment when it comes to changing your engine oil. Knowledge of the basics of engine oil  can make a big difference in extending the lifespan of your car:

Be mindful of the Change Oil Schedule.

People usually change their engine oil every 3,000 miles. Currently, experts recommend about 5,000 to 7,500 miles. When in doubt, ask a Subaru specialist in Denver.

Check oil levels.

Checking the oil levels at least once a month is essential to avoid drainage caused by leaks. You can either check it using manual dipsticks or electronic oil monitors, depending on your vehicle.

Be sure to get the right engine oil.

The best recommendation is to review your owner’s manual. Typically, vehicles run on these types of engine oil:

  • Full Synthetic Oil. This type of oil is recommended for excellent driving performance. It is also best to use for heavy-duty trucks or vehicles in extremely hot or cold places.
  • Conventional Motor Oil. It is the most common type of oil for your average vehicle but has limitations.
  • Synthetic Blend Engine Oil. This oil is the combination of fully synthetic and conventional motor oil, offering balance and flexibility that is perfect for your vehicle.
  • High Mileage Oil. It is ideal for old vehicles because it provides extra protection to your engine.

Learn the engine oil change indicators, including:

  • Changed Color – If you noticed that the engine oil has discoloration, you probably you need to change it—and it’s usually when they turn from a golden color to black. You must also check if there are particles mixed with the oil.
  • Loud engine – This is an indicator that the oil, which serves as the engine lubricant, may be running out.
  • You lost track of the oil change schedule – If you have forgotten the last time you had an oil change, it is recommended to have it checked by a professional Subaru Mechanic in Denver.
  • Engine light is on – If this happens, check using the dipstick if you have a low-level of oil. Otherwise, your engine may have other underlying problems that require immediate attention.

If you’re not comfortable performing an oil change, bring your car in for service to a Subaru specialist in DenverVisit The Subaru Clinic or call 720-420-0656 today!

Fuel Economy Best Miles Per Gallon Efficiency Speedometer Word 3d Illustration

Practical Ways to Optimize the Fuel Efficiency of Your Subaru

If you own a Subaru or any car brand for that matter, one of the things you want to find out is how to maximize your car’s number of miles per gallon (mpg). Not all cars are the same as far as fuel consumption is concerned – some consume more while others consume less even if they are of the same horsepower. If you already own a car, there may be no way you can alter its normal consumption, but there are methods you can apply to improve your car’s mileage per gallon.

Here are five practical ways you can optimize your car’s fuel efficiency:

Go Easy on Your Gas Pedal

Your car engine’s revolutions per minute (RPM) is directly proportional to its rate of fuel consumption. The higher the RPM, the more fuel it consumes. So if you’re driving your car like a racecar, you’ll never be able to cut your car’s fuel cost. If you want to increase your fuel efficiency, you should slow down a bit and accelerate more slowly.

Use Manufacturer-Recommended Motor Oil

Far from your assumptions, not all motor oils have the same effect on the performance of your car. If a type of motor oil works effectively for a particular brand, you cannot expect that it can do the same to your car. Using oil that is heavier than recommended has the tendency to create friction and causes your engine to work harder which means burning more fuel.

Check your owner’s manual or seek the advice of a trustworthy professional like the Subaru mechanic Boulder car enthusiasts prefer.

Say No to Prolonged Idling

Prolonged idling is sometimes necessary, but you should be prepared to sacrifice fuel economy.

Under normal circumstances, the average idling time for vehicles should not be longer than three minutes. If you’re waiting for someone who takes too long to hop in to your car, it’s better to turn it off.

Replace Air Filters and Spark Plugs Periodically

Contaminated air filters and defective spark plugs can reduce your car’s fuel efficiency and performance.

Check your air filters and spark plugs at least once every 15,000 miles to make sure that they are not too contaminated. Dirty or clogged air filters make your engine unable to suck enough air for efficient combustion.

The recommended frequency of air filter replacement is once every 30,000 miles but if upon checking, you find that your air filter is already dirty, you should have it replaced.

Worn out spark plugs can affect the performance of your engine. If worn out, they should be replaced with new ones immediately to maintain efficient combustion. When the time comes, you’ll need a reliable professional like a Subaru repair expert in Boulder to make the replacement.

The recommended frequency of spark plug replacement is once every 20,000 miles, assuming that oil or black deposits are not present at the base.

Maintain Recommended Tire Pressure

Your tire pressure plays an important part not only in giving you safe road trips but in optimizing your car’s fuel efficiency.

You might not expect it but underinflated tires can increase your car’s fuel consumption. Make it a habit to check your tires including the spare tire to ascertain that they contain the car manufacturer’s recommended pressure. This will result in balance, proper traction, and optimum fuel efficiency.

Regular maintenance is and will always be the best way to optimize the performance of your vehicle especially if it is handled by proficient auto technicians like a Subaru mechanic in Boulder that car owners recommend.

If you discover minor issues, you should have them addressed before they become a problems. With the help of reliable professionals like the Subaru repair specialists in Boulder, your life as a car owner will certainly become easier.

Subaru AC

Common Signs of a Failing Subaru AC Air Compressor

The compressor of your Subaru’s air conditioning system is an important component of your vehicle. It works to pressurize the car’s air conditioning system and keep its refrigerant flowing in order to serve its purpose: to keep your car’s inner temperature cool and protect its passengers from excessive heat. Your car’s compressor works on and off continuously while its air conditioning system is on. This makes the compressor susceptible to wear and tear like any moving part of the vehicle – and eventually will stop working over time.

A failing car AC compressor won’t just “die” without letting you know that it needs help. It will certainly produce a few signs to warn you that it has a problem. The compressor is involved in all the processes of your car’s air conditioning system. If it has a problem, the other components of your car’s AC system will be affected.

Here are the most common symptoms of a failing AC compressor:

1. High Cabin Temperatures

One of the very first signs of a failing compressor is the failure of the air conditioner to blow cold air as it used to do. A defective compressor loses its ability to regulate the flow of its refrigerant in the AC system. This makes the air conditioner lose its capability to perform efficiently.

2. Loud Noise

Your car air conditioner is supposed to run quietly, but when it starts to produce noises, Your car’s AC compressor could be failing. The AC compressor of all cars is driven by the engine belt, and it has a lot of spinning internal components that use bearings to be able to function. If any of these moving components break, fail or seize, you will certainly hear lots of noises as a result.

When a bearing wears out or leaks, it will produce a high pitched grinding sound while a seized bearing will give off a grinding noise or a belt squeal. When a compressor breaks down, a total replacement is almost always the best solution because a compressor assembly is so complex the time spent repairing it does not justify the cost saved.

3. Compressor Clutch Not Moving

A car’s air conditioner compressor clutch is an electromagnetic component. It works to engage and disengage the air conditioner pulley from the compressor drive and transmit full power to the compressor. It keeps the compressor turning only when it needs to be.

If the compressor clutch is not moving, it means that the pulley is no longer engaged with the engine. This causes the compressor to stop working. An AC compressor clutch can also seize and keep the compressor activated especially if you are running low on refrigerant or your condenser is extremely dirty. On some occasions, the clutch can break which means that the compressor will no longer be able to receive power from the engine, making your car unbearably hot on the inside.

In both instances, having the car AC compressor replaced by a trustworthy Subaru air conditioning repair professional would be the most viable solution to the problem instead of replacing the clutch itself.

The compressor is the heart of every air conditioning system. If you think your car’s AC compressor is showing these common signs of failure, you should have your car’s air conditioning system checked at once by a proficient Subaru air conditioning repair facility.

For fast, efficient and guaranteed car AC repair, take your car to a Subaru AC repair shop. Call us at (720) 420-0656 now!

Plus, a well-maintained vehicle will always mean a higher trade-in value.

Here are some helpful maintenance tips that will keep your Subaru in top shape:

Get an oil change and fluid check.

Checking the oil regularly for Subaru vehicles is very important because their vehicle models are designed for trekking across rough terrain. With poor oil maintenance, Subaru engines are more likely to wear out quickly. You also need to check your coolant to keep your engine at the right temperature and avoid overheating. Always refer to your owners manual or better yet, visit your nearest Subaru mechanic in Boulder, CO if you are unsure about changing the oil, replacing coolants, power steering fluid and brake fluid.

Check your tire pressure and alignment.

Make sure your wheels are properly aligned and that you maintain proper air pressure in your tires. Check air pressure once a week. If you see any damage to your tires, replace or repair them immediately.

Test lights regularly.

Check to see if your brake lights, left and right signal lights and headlights are shining brightly. If any of the lights in the front or rear are out, replace them right away.

Inspect your battery.

Your battery keeps your Subaru running so Inspect it for corrosion or any signs of damage. Inspect cables and wires to see if they are connected and if you notice any corrosion you can try to remove them with a toothbrush and some baking soda and water. To be sure, take your vehicle to a professional Subaru mechanic in Boulder.

See a Subaru mechanic in Boulder.

If you’re unsure whether something is wrong with your vehicle, see a nearby Subaru mechanic in Boulder immediately, especially if the car is making strange noises or if there’s a difference in the driving performance. timing belt

How Your Subaru Car’s Timing Belt Works

A timing belt is a belt made of rubber that connects to the crankshaft of internal combustion engines. The belt, which is flat-toothed, controls the timing of internal combustion engines. It works to ensure that the rotation of the crankshaft and the camshaft are synchronized.

The timing belt is responsible for making engine valves open and close at the right time to allow air to get into the engine and facilitate combustion and energy production. Incorrect timing limits air intake and reduces the capability of the engine to burn fuel. The timing belt also works to regulate the water pump and your vehicle’s power steering mechanism.

If your engine misfires, fails to ignite, or is producing a ticking noise from inside the engine compartment, you might have a timing belt problem. When this happens you need to call your trusted Subaru mechanic for Subaru timing belt service.

How Timing Belts Work

There are four strokes or phases involved in four-stroke engines.

Intake

During this phase, the piston moves downward while intake valves open to allow mixed air and fuel to get into the cylinder. At this point, the exhaust valves are closed.

Compression

The piston makes an upward movement to compress the mixture of air and fuel, with all valves closed.

Combustion or Power

With all valves closed, the piston goes down to allow the spark plug to ignite the air and fuel mixture, allowing the engine to deliver power to the vehicle.

Exhaust

With intake valves closed, the exhaust valve opens to allow excess air and fuel to escape from the engine.

***

While all these are happening inside the engine, the timing belt turns the camshaft pulley simultaneously with the crankshaft pulley. A worn out or damaged timing belt can affect the timing or synchronization of the camshaft and crankshaft. This can cause collision of the pistons and valves which could result in bent or completely damaged valves and piston-connecting rods.

You will know when a Subaru timing belt change is coming because bad timing belts don’t go unnoticed. Bad timing belts usually manifest signs such as a squeaking noise, or a rattling sound if your engine uses a timing chain.

If you suspect that your car’s timing belt has a problem, you should act on it at once to avoid costly complications. Watch for the signs, and if you notice any, seek the assistance of a certified Subaru technician for a possible Subaru timing belt service. This is the best way you can prevent severe engine damage which is very costly. You also need to read your user’s manual to know when  the manufacturer recommends a timing belt replacement.

A majority of auto repair and maintenance professionals recommend timing belt replacement every 60,000 to 90,000 miles. Nevertheless, you should have your timing belt checked once in a while, especially if your car has been running for years. This can help to make sure that timing belt problems are intercepted and addressed before they create an issue.

If you own a Subaru, the mechanics at Subaru Clinic can provide you with any type of service your vehicle needs, from simple engine diagnostics to complicated repairs like a Subaru timing belt change.

3 Reasons to Bring Your Subaru in for an Engine Diagnostic Check

Subaru has always been a top choice when it comes to all-wheel drive vehicles in Colorado. With good fuel economy, comfortable interiors, impressive driving performance, intuitive control, high-tech safety features, and a generally comfortable ride, a Subaru is one of the best vehicles you can own.

While the brand is durable and reliable, you can extend your vehicle’s life by making sure the engine is in top shape. Regular check-ups and maintenance keeps your engine in good running condition especially since numerous systems in your Subaru are run by high-tech computers. Sometimes component failure is also caused by a computer malfunction, which is why the diagnostic process is more complicated with each new model.

If you experience any serious problems, immediately bring your vehicle to a Subaru engine repair shop in Boulder and get your engine checked and fixed.

To avoid damaging expensive components in your vehicle, here are three reasons to bring your vehicle in for a Subaru engine diagnostics check:

1. Your car is not running properly.

If you notice any differences in the quality of driving, then stop everything and bring in your vehicle for a diagnostic check-up and assessment as soon as possible.

2. Your vehicle won’t start.

If the problem is not the battery then it could be related to engine problems.

3. The ‘Check Engine’ light is on.

If there is a problem with the computer and electrical systems, the ‘check engine’ light illuminates. You can check here for other reasons including dangerous gas emissions from leaks.

To protect your engine, take your vehicle in for a diagnostics check. Ignoring the light will only create larger problems in the long run. For Subaru engine repair in Boulder, Subaru Clinic offers Subaru engine diagnostics services including maintenance and repairs for all makes and models.

When you bring in your vehicle for a diagnostic check, Subaru Clinic technicians will communicate with the car’s computer to find out what’s wrong with the system. Once the team pinpoints the cause of the issue, Subaru Clinic will then identify and recommend the next steps and repairs needed.

Subaru Clinic has been in the business of Subaru engine diagnostics and repair since 2007. Our team of experienced technicians  state-of-the-art equipment will help fix any engine problems you may have. By bringing your vehicle to the Subaru Clinic, you can be assured of great services by expert Subaru mechanics. The Advantages of Using an Independent Auto Shop for Car Repairs

Choosing to take your vehicle to a dealership for repairs and maintenance instead of a local Subaru auto mechanic can be an expensive mistake. While dealerships claim to have specially trained mechanics, better equipment, and exclusively OEM parts, only two of these aspects are true, and neither one matters. Every auto shop has specific equipment geared towards manufacturer vehicles. The type of diagnostic equipment a shop uses isn’t nearly as important as the skills of the mechanic that interprets the data.

OEM Parts and Specific Training Don’t Matter

The letters OEM stand for original equipment manufacturer. While these parts are more expensive, they are not necessarily better quality. There are many aftermarket parts that offer longer warranties and are built with better materials. An independent mechanic is likely to offer you several options for repair, so you can choose between OEM and aftermarket parts. It’s true that some non-OEM parts have an inferior build or fitting issues, but that’s determined by the maker. A local Subaru technician will provide you with non-OEM parts that are as reliable and high-performing as OEM parts. They may even exceed manufacturer specifications. Why would you pay more for lesser quality parts?

Even at a car dealership, you’re not guaranteed a mechanic with vehicle-specific training. Dealerships have no prerequisites when hiring mechanics. They base their hiring decisions on a variety of factors, just like an independent Boulder Subaru technician. While some mechanics have earned diplomas or certification in engine repair, overall experience is the top factor that any shop looks for. The idiosyncrasies found between manufacturers and vehicle systems can be learned over time. Good auto repair shops hire the best mechanics and instill any necessary additional knowledge as they go along. As a cross-manufacturer discipline, vehicle repair skills carry over. Why should you pay a higher bill at a dealership if their mechanics have the same level of training as a local Subaru auto mechanic?

You May Legally Choose Your Own Car Parts and Mechanic

It used to be you had to take your vehicle to a dealership for repairs so as not to void your warranty. These days, dealerships no longer have a stranglehold on the industry. You can legally take your Subaru to any mechanic you choose. Your warranty cannot be voided by the parts you choose either.

Why a Dealership Charges Extra

So, if all the above is true, why do dealerships charge so much money? The sad answer is because they can. Dealerships will claim they provide superior service to scare you into getting your maintenance and repairs done there. The truth is you’re paying an additional OEM parts cost and an additional branding cost in return for service, maintenance, and repairs that are no better than your Boulder Subaru technician.

What You Can Do About It

The best way to decide where to take your vehicle is to look at the service the auto repair shop provides.  Most shops will warranty their work, whether they are a dealership or an independent. The competition pushes them to improve. However, while an independent auto mechanic can justify their costs, it’s rare to find a dealership that can.

When you’re ready to eliminate high costs and get quality Subaru maintenance and repair, call the Subaru Clinic. With years of experience, we’ll keep your favorite vehicle running smoothly and efficiently so you can have a safe winter season.

3 Reasons to Take Your Vehicle to a Professional Subaru Mechanic

Studies show that the average age of vehicles on American roads is at an all-time-high 10.8 years. This statistic shows that car owners are becoming increasingly cost-conscious, and would rather keep their existing vehicle in good shape and use it for an extended period than get a new one.

Keeping your Subaru up and running for years to come requires the correct care, repair, and maintenance. You might consider doing it yourself to pass the time, save money, or try out a new technique. The best option, however, is to hire the services of a professional to conduct a thorough Subaru maintenance check. Here are three reasons why you should:

It’s all about skills, expertise, and experience.

You might have all the Subaru parts information you need and know your car like the back of your hand, but a Subaru mechanic with expert training trumps all of that. Navigating your cars complex systems isn’t something to be taken lightly; you want your vehicle to be professionally attended to and cared for.

Find industry certified Subaru specialists who are properly trained and continue to participate in regular training to stay up to date with the latest in Subaru car care. Choose a Subaru services provider that is fully equipped with state-of-the-art tools and technologies to perform high-quality Subaru repair and maintenance checks.

Unless you are properly trained to handle your vehicle’s problems and perform car maintenance procedures, you might just end up doing your Subaru more harm than good.

It saves you money.

Every Subaru owner wants to extend their car’s lifespan without breaking the bank. In most cases, DIY work just doesn’t cut it. Contrary to common belief, taking your vehicle to a certified Subaru mechanic shop is a cost-saving option.

Trust a team of professionals that utilizes the right repair procedures and has access to all the right tools to get your Subaru back on the road in no time—with no second-guessing about what needs to be fixed. By choosing Subaru car repair shop that gives you top-quality services for lasting results at affordable prices, you save more money down the line.

It’s much more convenient.

If you’re like most Subaru owners, you would want high-quality repairs and services on schedules that work for you. Giving your Subaru repair shop a call and scheduling your car for a Subaru maintenance check with a team of experts is a convenient way to get things done.

Instead of getting your hands dirty for car repair checks, risking more damage on your Subaru, or injuring yourself in the process, your prized vehicle will receive personalized attention from trained Subaru mechanics.

Subaru Head Gasket Replacement FAQs

If you think it’s time for your car to get a Subaru head gasket replacement, you may be wondering about the process. Our technicians at the Subaru Clinic have compiled a list of frequently asked questions to help you make the decision to move forward with your Subaru head gasket repair.

What repairs are included and what should I consider adding to the repair?

Head gasket replacement includes the thermostat/gasket, valve cover gaskets, head gaskets, and a filter and oil change. We recommend replacing your timing belt, tensioner, and timing idlers at the same time, as well as your crank and cam seals. You should also have your water pump inspected if you don’t know how long it’s been since it was replaced. We will replace any deteriorated hoses, exhaust gaskets, and other small parts like spark plugs or sensors, and you should get a newly updated baffle plate if the old one has been leaking. Getting these repairs done at the same time as your Subaru head gasket replacement can save you the money of an additional trip.

The cost is more than the value of my car. Why Should I fix it?

Excellent question. The technicians at the Subaru Clinic will always be honest about telling you whether your car is or isn’t worth fixing. If it’s unclear whether the car is worth putting that amount of money into, we will help you make an informed decision. Subaru was named the number one brand for residual value in 2018 by ALG, so your car may be worth more than you think.

We use a simple formula to determine whether your car is worth fixing. Take the amount of money you could get for the car without fixing it, add it to the cost of the repair, and ask yourself, “Can I buy something better with this amount of money?”

How long will it take to repair?

In most cases, a Subaru Forester head gasket repair takes around two days. This gives our technicians time to fix the vehicle, road test it, and recheck it. If we run into a problem with parts, the repair could potentially take longer.

How long will a head gasket repair last?

The original head gaskets on a Subaru 2.5 engine tend to fail between 100,000 and 150,000 miles. Most replacement gaskets last just as long.

Will the repair cause other problems for my Subaru?

Head gasket replacement usually goes smoothly and doesn’t cause any other issues. However, cooling system components or knock sensors occasionally fail shortly after the repair. While you shouldn’t expect problems after a head gasket replacement, you should know that it’s a possibility.

What do I do if something does go wrong?

If you notice a problem after your head gasket replacement, the best thing to do is call us and make an appointment to bring your car in as soon as possible so we can take a look and address your concerns.

If you have more questions about your head gasket or are ready to make an appointment to get the repair done, contact the Subaru Clinic today. Our honest technicians have the expertise to get your car back on the road as quickly as possible.

check engine light

Your Subaru Check Engine Light Is On: What Does It Mean?

Imagine you’re driving down the highway in your Subaru, and the check engine light comes on. Does this mean you need to pull over immediately and call for service? Not necessarily. Your actions will depend on the situation at hand, as the warning light can mean anything from a loose gas cap to critical engine problems, but it’s always a good idea to get a Subaru diagnostic performed by a qualified mechanic if your check engine light comes on.

While you may not need immediate service, never ignore the light. Doing so can seriously damage your engines components and leave you stranded on the side of the road. The Subaru Impreza was the third most stolen vehicle in Colorado in 2017. The last thing you want to do is leave it unattended on the roadside, so call and make an appointment for Subaru engine diagnostics before the situation gets serious.

What Does the Check Engine Light Mean?

Several systems in your Subaru are run by computers, including the automatic transmission, ignition timing, fuel mixture, and engine speed. If the computer finds a problem in the electrical system that it can’t fix, it illuminates the check engine light. The warning indicator is usually yellow and varies from being a picture of an engine to being words like “service engine soon” or “check engine.” In late model Subarus, other warning lights might turn on simultaneously that helps identify the source of the problem by the trouble code the system stores. A Subaru engine diagnostics center can then use an electronic scanner to determine exactly what’s causing the issue.

The light may also indicate dangerous gas emissions from carbon monoxide to hydrocarbon pollutants. Your Subaru’s monitoring system watches for escaping gasoline vapors due to a leak or missing gas cap, as well as exhaust emissions as they leave the engine and catalytic converter.

What Should You Do When the Light Comes On?

Always know what the lights on your dashboard mean. You can learn the symbolism of each gauge by reading your Subaru owner’s manual. This will help you determine the severity of the problem. Whether the indicator light remains constant or starts to blink, you’ll need to get your car checked by a certified Subaru mechanic, but a blinking light means a serious issue that needs immediate attention. In that case, pull over in a safe area and have your vehicle towed to the Subaru Clinic.

While a lit check engine light isn’t always an emergency, having your vehicle looked at sooner rather than later can save you from paying for expensive repairs. A Subaru diagnostic center like the Subaru Clinic can determine the cause of the issue and safely get you back on the road. Call us today for an appointment!

3 Signs It’s Time for a Subaru Clutch Adjustment

Subarus are very reliable cars, but even the most reliable vehicles have trouble from time to time. The 2016 Subaru Forester could get from zero to 60 mph in 6.3 seconds. Even if you’re not steadily putting that kind of pressure on your engine, your clutch will occasionally need to be adjusted. By noticing the signs and getting a Subaru clutch adjustment early on, you can save yourself from more costly repairs or having to retire your vehicle completely. If you notice any of these signs, make sure get your Subaru Forester in for a clutch adjustment ASAP!

Slippage

If your car doesn’t easily shift into gear or doesn’t act in correspondence to the gearstick, there may be something wrong with your clutch. You can investigate by looking at the tachometer gauge. If it shows uncontrolled, rapid movements, it’s a good idea to have your clutch looked at as soon as you can get an appointment.

Engine Noises

If your engine revs when you shift or makes sputtering noises, you probably need a clutch replacement. If you’re technologically savvy, look for a worn flywheel or clutch as signs that your clutch needs repair. In addition to sounds, you may notice a burning smell when your clutch goes bad.

Movement Changes

The way your Subaru handles should be pretty consistent over the years. If you notice a drastic difference, it’s time to take your car to a Subaru clutch adjustment shop. A bad clutch often moves with difficulty, too easily, or jumps and shakes. These symptoms can lead to jerky movements when you drive. While minor issues could be normal, it’s best to get your vehicle checked out by a qualified professional.

Keeping up with your Subaru is the best way to make sure it runs for years to come. When you need a Subaru Forester clutch adjustment, look no further than the Subaru Clinic. With years of experience working on Subaru’s, we can diagnose the problem and help you find an affordable solution. Call us for an appointment today!

How to Know When You Need to Replace the Clutch in Your Subaru

While Subaru ranks in Consumer Reports list of top 10 most reliable cars, problems can still arise, and problems with the clutch can make your car undrivable. Over time, it’s possible for your clutch to wear out, making it impossible to change between gears. It’s an extremely important part of your vehicle and one you’ll want to have fixed immediately by a Subaru mechanic in Boulder.

What a Clutch Does

Your clutch separates your engine from the car’s drivetrain so you can change gears or come to a complete stop while the engine is running. It’s made of three components – a clutch plate, a pressure plate, and a flywheel. When you take your foot off the pedal, the springs in your clutch press these three pieces together to keep the transmission and engine connected and moving at the same rate. By pressing your foot on the clutch pedal, you’ll pull the springs up and away from the clutch plate so the other two components spin at different speeds, letting you easily change gears.

How Long a Clutch Will Typically Last

A Boulder Subaru technician will tell you that the life of your clutch is based on many different factors, so it’s different for every car owner. They’re designed to last at least 50,000 miles, but it can vary based on how well you take care of your car and what your driving style is. If you do a lot of city driving, you may find that your clutch wears out faster due to the frequent shifting between lower gears.

Signs That Your Clutch Needs To Be Replaced

There are several tell-tale signs that it’s time to take your Subaru to a Subaru mechanic in Boulder for a clutch replacement. For example, a vibrating or loose clutch pedal or one that is spongy or sticking when pressed. You may hear a grumbling or squeaking noise and have difficulty shifting gears. If you can rev the engine but your acceleration is poor, or you have a momentary loss of acceleration caused by a slipping clutch, it’s time to search “car repair near me!”

Keeping up with car repair and maintenance is important to keep it running smoothly for years to come. If you’re having difficulty with your clutch or other engine issues, call a Boulder Subaru technician at the Subaru Clinic today for reasonable rates and efficient service.

Getting Proper Timing Belt Replacement Service for Your Subaru

So, you read in your owner’s manual that you need a Subaru timing belt replacement when you hit 105K miles, but it’s not that simple. Subaru timing belt replacement mileage may vary if you do a lot of city, mountain or ocean-side driving, live in an extreme climate or tow a trailer. In any case, you want to get the best deal, but also the best service. Services differ from shop to shop and you want to find one that will replace the belt with good parts that will last almost as long as the originals. Choosing a shop based on price will probably leave you hurting after the warranty on the repair runs out. The cheap upfront cost might be tempting, but having it done right the first time is priceless.

Parts come in many different quality levels. The Subaru repair shops that offer you the cheapest price are probably using the lowest cost part that will last just until the warranty period of one year is over. Technician abilities vary as well. If you’re choosing a shop based on the lowest estimate, you probably won’t get the same quality service as you would with quality components and experienced Subaru technicians.

Your timing belt is an important part of your engine. It keeps your camshafts spinning in unison with the crankshaft so the valves will open at the right time in the combustion cycle. Without it, you’ll get no compression or spark from the air and fuel coming in. The timing belt also turns the water pump and can self-adjust in newer Subarus. Over time, the rubber belt will wear and crack with age, eventually breaking. Even if it doesn’t break, a stretched timing belt is bad for performance and gas mileage. This is why it’s important to replace it when it starts to wear out.

By choosing a Subaru specific shop, you’ll save money over going to a dealer, but you may find we’re more expensive than a tire store that offers a belt change. This is standard. We are trained specifically to handle your vehicle’s engine. We know what the best parts are for your make and model and we give you the best possible service from experienced technicians. Generic shops may not notice that something else in your engine is verging on failing or that there’s been a recall on specific Subaru parts. That little bit of extra money you spend on a Subaru timing belt replacement can give you peace of mind.

Don’t sacrifice quality to save money and don’t always rely on the owner’s manual to determine Subaru timing belt replacement mileage. An experienced independent Subaru repair shop like the Subaru Clinic can save you from paying dealer prices and provide more service for the money. We’ll fix your car with a reliable repair that will last.

Contact the Subaru Clinic today for all of your Subaru repair needs! We are conveniently located between Boulder and Denver along Highway 36 in Broomfield, CO.

Subaru Tune-Up for Your Summer Road Trip

It’s the perfect time for a road trip. The outdoors beckon with open sunny arms, and with it comes that warm tingly feeling of stepping out into the unknown. Taking a trip like this, usually spontaneous and full of laughter, has its fair share of dangers. You’ll need a chariot that won’t fail you across this unknown time and distance. So when’s the last time you had that Subaru looked at? Are you sure everything’s running up to par?  Taking your car to a Subaru mechanic can mean the difference between a disaster of a trip and vacation in paradise.

A transmission that fails miles from the nearest Subaru auto mechanic is a hundred times more terrifying and hard to deal with than the possibility of failure at your neighborhood Subaru mechanic. Finding the nearest Subaru auto mechanic is easier than it seems, and can be so much more important than you’d think. It’s impossible to stop something from breaking after it’s already broken. But going to a professional Subaru mechanic, like the Subaru Clinic in the Broomfield area can identify the problems that might end up happening on that 200-mile jaunt into the sunset. Doing something like this first lets you trust in your car, and in those who worked on it. That can’t compare to the time and money you’d save trying to fix a problem after it’s reached its head, halfway down the road, with no record or guarantee of help. Make sure that you and your loved ones are safe this summer. But by all means still take those trips.

Go find those horizons, but make sure that your Subaru is keeping everyone as safe as it should be. Nothing is scarier than a new noise on an old car or that gut-wrenching sound of your car not starting just when you need it to. Your friends at the Subaru Clinic are here to quiet the worries that everyone has when they hear a clank or a new mysterious noise. Whether it is on the road to the Grand Canyon, or on the way from coast to coast, a Subaru that is cared for makes sure everyone is safe and happy.

car driving in the summer season

Reasons to See a Certified Subaru Mechanic to Get Ready for Summer Driving

Summer is the season of road trips, but before you head out for adventure on the open road, you need to take care of your vehicle so it will take care of you. Stop-and-go traffic, high temperatures and dirt and dust from the road can hinder the performance of your Subaru. Seeing a Subaru certified mechanic to check the following systems will ensure that you have a safe and eventful summer.

Air Conditioning

Air conditioning systems require routine maintenance every few years to keep them running on hot days. A poorly working system is bound to fail when the temperature rises. To keep it in good working condition, you should have the refrigerant checked to make sure it’s not deteriorated or leaking.

Also, try running the A/C on high and listen for the click of the compressor clutch to engage and stay steady. If it makes frequent clicks, it means the charge is low and should be serviced. Getting the system recharged at a Subaru repair mechanic is relatively inexpensive and could save you thousands of dollars later on. While you’re there, have the mechanic put tracer dye in your cooling system to easily detect leaks.

Tire Pressure and Tread

Good tires aren’t only important on snowy roads. Heat can be dangerous too. When under-inflated tires bulge in the heat, they put pressure on the side walls which can lead to a blowout. Over-inflated tires are also a problem. They make less road contact and can hydroplane when it rains. Tire pressure changes quickly in hot weather, so keep a pressure gauge handy to make sure your inflation isn’t affected and always keep a spare on hand.

Tread is an important safety concern as well. Check tread depth by turning your car’s steering wheel all the way to one side and looking for small rubber lines that are built across the tread between blocks. If your tires are worn to the same level as the indicators, they’ll need to be replaced. You can also measure by standing a penny head-first in between your tire ribs. If Lincoln’s whole head is visible, your tires need to be changed.

Cooling System

Summer breakdowns are normally caused when a vehicle overheats. Keeping your radiator and cooling systems full of coolant is the only way to ensure they’ll work properly. Because of their diminutive size, even a small leak can cause system failure on hot days. Always have your cooling system checked by a Subaru certified mechanic and change your fluid according to your vehicle’s recommended service schedule. If you’re not car savvy, leave the fluid maintenance to the professionals. Different brands can be incompatible and mixing them can ruin the entire system.

By taking care of your car before the summer heat, you can be sure it will get you where you need to go all season long. When choosing a technician, it’s important to pick a shop that has experience working on the same make and model vehicle as yours. We have extensive experience with all Subaru models.

Subaru Oil Change in Colorado

WHY GET AN OIL CHANGE?

In order for a vehicle to function properly, the engine uses up a lot of its motor oil. Motor oil keeps the engine lubricated and efficient in transferring heat, essentially enabling the car to work. It also helps reduce wear and tear on all of the engine’s moving parts.

Over time, however, accumulated dirt can break down the oil and turn it into “sludge” or “cake.” As a result, the engine parts corrode and become dirty. When your car’s oil is not changed when it should be, it ages, it becomes less efficient, causes performance issues, and ultimately results in shortened engine life.

An oil change may be a simple routine service but it is a must for your vehicle. It helps remove sludge and other particles to keep the engine in peak condition. You also avoid expensive repairs, which are required for engine damage or failure.

WHEN IS IT TIME FOR AN OIL CHANGE?

Each car oil change used to be performed every 3,000 miles or quarterly to ensure optimum vehicle performance. Thanks to innovative engine technologies and advanced oil engine formulation – oil-change intervals have changed. In recent years, and depending on your vehicle, changing oil annually or after up to 10,000 miles is considered good practice.

Still, it helps to check your owner’s manual for guidance on maintenance. If you’re still not sure if it’s time for an oil change or not, look out for these warning signs:

  • Oil has turned dirty, black, or lump
  • Weird, jumpy noises coming from the engine
  • The inside of your car reeks of engine oil
  • Excessive mileage
  • The “Check Oil” or “Check Engine” light comes on.
  • Translucent exhaust smoke indicates oil leak in the engine, which also needs to be addressed immediately.

WHAT TO EXPECT – OIL CHANGE

When your vehicle undergoes a full service oil change, your car service professionals at Subaru Clinic will evaluate its oil levels and condition. They will replace it with either the conventional mineral-based motor oil or the synthetic blend. Our Subaru oil change service also includes inspecting your oil filter and replacing it.

The conventional mineral-based type is more commonly used when changing oil. Synthetic oil, on the other hand, is becoming an increasingly popular choice because it provides instant lubrication, is more efficient in resisting breakdowns, and can withstand high temperatures. The formulation also lasts longer than the mineral-based option, which means less waste and more savings.

At Subaru Clinic – you can expect us to explain to you the different steps as we perform an oil change for Subaru cars. We make recommendations based on certain parameters.

When it comes to keeping your engine clean, properly lubricated, and working smoothly, don’t take chances. Schedule an appointment for comprehensive oil change service with your certified technicians Subaru Clinic.

Suspension / Shocks / Struts

Come into Subaru Clinic today to get your shocks and struts replaced.

Since shocks and struts wear out gradually, many can’t feel the difference. However, replacing your shocks and struts maintains ride quality, handling characteristics and performance of your automobile.

Your shocks and struts are part of your vehicle’s suspension, and your suspension system helps you stay in control when you’re on the road. Subaru Clinic can help ensure your safety by keeping your suspension system well maintained and in great shape.

SIGNS YOU NEED TO GET YOUR SHOCKS AND STRUTS CHECKED:

  • Fluid is leaking out of the shock or strut body
  • Your shock or strut bodies are either dented or damaged
  • Your mounts or bushings are broken or worn
  • Your vehicle has uneven tire wear
  • Your car sways or leans when turning, or you experience vehicle “nose dives” when you press on the brakes
  • You feel excessive bouncing after going over a road bump
  • Your ride feels bumpy or shaky, and/or your steering feels stiff or worse yet, makes noise

WHAT ARE SHOCKS?

Shocks are hydraulic pump-like devices that help to control the impact and rebound movement of your vehicle’s springs and suspension. Most importantly—shocks help your car stop. Shocks and struts wear out over time and may affect your stopping distance—new shocks and struts can help your vehicle stop up to ten feet earlier and will give you increased vehicle stability and control. Check the symptoms of your vehicle and decide if it’s time to replace your shocks or struts.

Subaru Batteries/Charging system in Colorado

Come into Subaru Clinic today to get your batteries charged, cleaned or replaced.

THE IMPORTANCE OF YOUR BATTERY

Your car’s battery is the lifeblood of your vehicle. It is responsible for starting your car and running many of the accessories on the vehicle. The battery must endure extreme temperatures and still be able to perform. While most of the time the battery can just sit in your car without maintenance, the natural venting of fumes from the battery will eventually cause corrosion on the battery terminals, and this must be periodically cleaned.

Additionally, if your battery is running low or has been worn out, it needs charging. We offer services in this area. In some cases, and after many years of use, it may be that your battery is in need of replacing, and we can help with that too.

Subaru Clinic sells batteries and offers electrical repairs with quality parts.

IS IT YOUR BATTERY OR YOUR ALTERNATOR?

Whether your battery needs cleaning, charging or replacing, it is important to come in when you think you may have electrical issues going on with your car. Sometimes the issue is actually with the alternator, though people often assume it is their battery. The alternator is responsible for operating all the electrical accessories while the engine is running. Everything from the turn signals, to the engine computer to the fuel pump is powered by the battery and alternator. The alternator also recharges the battery after it is used to start the engine.

Electrical system problems can be slight or major, and we at Subaru Clinic offer alternator replacement using quality parts.

Subaru Clutch Repair and Replacement in Colorado

Come into Subaru clinic for clutch replacement or repair.

WHAT IS THE CLUTCH?

The clutch is what engages the transmission to the engine, so as you may imagine, it is a crucial part of the healthy functioning of your car, and so it is quite important to make sure this gets replaced when necessary. Manual transmissions cannot function without a clutch. Without it, your car’s engine would keep spinning, but your wheels wouldn’t move. The function of the clutch is to connect the spinning engine to the transmission, which then causes the wheels to spin.

HOW DO I KNOW WHEN I SHOULD GET MY CLUTCH REPLACED?

Different parts of the clutch will wear down or break over time, and this will require repair or even replacement depending on your level of use. If you notice your engine revving but your vehicle is not accelerating, it is likely that your clutch is slipping. If you experience any of these issues, bring your car to Subaru Clinic for a full inspection.
Where and how you drive will have a huge impact on how long your clutch will last. On some vehicles, additional parts replacement may be required or recommended at the time of clutch replacement. Ask us about clutch replacement at the first sign of problems.

Subaru Engine Diagnostics in Colorado

Come into Subaru Clinic for a diagnostic check today.

WHEN SHOULD I COME IN FOR A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK?

If your car is not running properly, won’t start or has a ‘check engine’ light on, this means it is time for a diagnostic check.

WHAT TO EXPECT

For this process, Subaru Clinic technicians will first communicate with your car’s computer to find out what the computer thinks is wrong. We will then verify component failure to make sure the computer is not simply confused—cars are starting to become like mobile computer systems, making the diagnostics process more complicated with every new model.

After determining the cause of your car’s issue(s), Subaru Clinic will recommend the necessary repairs. Our experienced technicians and state-of-the-art equipment will help fix your problem.

Subaru Brake Repair and Replacement in Colorado

Come in to Subaru Clinic to get your Brakes checked today.

Getting your brakes checked is, of course, an all important service. As much as you want to be sure your car runs well in terms of going places—you also always want to make sure you can stop!

WHAT TO EXPECT

Whatever the issue may be for your car brakes, we at Subaru Clinic will start by performing a complete inspection of your braking system. This is necessary to determine what your car really needs as well as how much it may cost. Our technicians can repair all braking systems, including newer anti-lock brake systems. Each vehicle will require different components to repair the braking system, so please be sure to schedule an appointment when your brakes are in need of inspection.

SIGNS THAT IT’S TIME TO HAVE YOUR BRAKES CHECKED:

– The brake light on your dashboard is on continuously.

– Your car takes longer to stop than feels normal to you.

– You hear a high pitched squeal and/or grinding sound when you brake. This sound may or may not be audible over the sound of your car stereo, so, if you are not sure, turn the stereo off while listening for these sounds. (If there is grinding, not only will the repair job likely be more pricy, but you may be in danger while driving, so please do not delay in getting your brakes checked if this is the case).

– Your vehicle pulls to one side while driving or braking, or your brake pedal vibrates when braking.

– You have to push your brake pedal to the floor to make your car stop. Additionally, if your brakes engage with the slightest touch of the pedal, this is something to be looked into as well.

SIGNS THAT IT’S TIME TO HAVE YOUR BRAKES REPAIRED:

-If your brake pads are at less than 20 percent of their original thickness, it’s time to get them replaced, though you can ask us to determine how much more time there is to wait until replacing/repairing.

– However, if your brakes are at 10 percent or less, they need to be changed immediately. (Maintaining your brake pads at the appropriate thickness is one of the best ways to avoid costly repairs in the future).

– Your rotor should be smooth. If there are any deep grooves, then it will need to be reconditioned or replaced. Any findings that relate to the calipers, hydraulic system and brake fluid may also indicate a need for brake repairs.

Timing belt replacement

Come in to Subaru Clinic to Replace your Timing Belt!

WHEN SHOULD I GET MY TIMING BELT REPLACED?

The mileage interval recommendation can vary anywhere from 60,000 to 90,000 mile intervals, with some recommended for replacement at 105,000 miles. We at Subaru Clinic recommend you replace your timing belt at 105,000 miles. That said, check your owner’s manual for recommendations.

WHY SHOULD I GET MY TIMING BELT REPLACED?

While this is not a service that needs to happen frequently, it is one of the most crucial services you will need to get for your vehicle when it is time for replacement. If your timing belt breaks, serious engine damage can and likely will occur. This is why your vehicle manufacturer specifies particular intervals when your timing belt should be replaced—you don’t want to damage your engine, and, having a well-functioning timing belt is a matter of safety to the driver and passengers as well.

CAN I GET MY TIMING BELT REPLACED BEFORE SUBARU’S RECOMMENDED INTERVAL?

That said, if we are servicing your car for other reasons, and we think it is time to replace your timing belt sooner, we will certainly say so. With that said, we don’t recommend you go past the 105,000 mile mark. This is not one of those services that we recommend putting off, it will cost you much more money and possible damage in the long run if you wait. Not to mention, it is a real safety issue.

HOW YOUR TIMING BELT WORKS

The timing belt in your vehicle is responsible for synchronizing your engine’s functions. The timing belt controls the rotation of both the camshaft and crankshaft, as well as the opening and closing of the engine’s many valves to allow air and gas in and out. All of these actions cause the fuel to ignite in the combustion chamber. During this combustion, the valves push the pistons down. When and if your timing belt breaks, the valves open at the wrong time and hit the larger pistons and cause damage to your engine, which is what you want to avoid.

Subaru Cooling System Services in Broomfield and Denver, CO

Come in to Subaru Clinic for a cooling system service check!

Getting a regular coolant flush and fill will help to prevent overheating, freezing and premature corrosion of the cooling-system of your vehicle.

WHEN SHOULD I GET MY COOLING SYSTEM SERVICED?

The Cooling System Service is a very important part of maintenance for your vehicle and we recommend replacing your engine coolant every 60,000 miles. Though you may or may not realize it, engine coolant loses integrity after lengthy periods of time. Assuming your engine has the traditional coolant, (you will know it is this kind if it is green), this is our recommendation for cooling services.

WHAT ELSE CAN I EXPECT DURING MY COOLING SYSTEM SERVICE?

When you do bring your car in to replace the coolant, our team will check your entire cooling system to make checks on your entire cooling system. We will check to make sure that your coolant hoses or other components are functioning well, and make sure they are not in need of replacing.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I REPLACE MY COOLANT HOSES?

Generally, we recommend the replacement of coolant hoses every four years, so, assuming you bring your car in to be serviced regularly for oil changes and regular maintenance, you may already be in good shape with these parts by the time you come in for your cooling system service check. (In other words, you will want to be getting your coolant hoses and other components replaced probably before you get to the 60,000 mile mark)

WHY IS MY COOLING SYSTEM SO IMPORTANT?

When the cooling system of your vehicle isn’t functioning properly, the temperature of the engine can get so hot that it can damage itself, and when that happens, the cost can be astronomical. Having your radiator inspected regularly and maintaining your coolant fluid levels can save you a lot of time and money in the long term.
